Sunday, September 18th 12-6pm
(Some performances Saturday, September 17th 5pm-11pm)

CAMBRIDGE, MA. The Central Square Business Association is hosting ArtsCentral, the FIRST EVER arts festival in Central Square on Sunday September 18th from 12PM to 6 PM (with many events occurring the evening of Saturday the 17th). Our goal is to shine a spotlight on the many accomplished artists living and working in Cambridge's Central Square. It will be an art-infused weekend with over 100 local artists and performers made possible by the support of area businesses, community organizations and property owners. Locally known bands, street performers, musicians, dancers, artists, chefs, tour guides and theatrical groups will join together to celebrate Central Square's vibrant and diverse artistic community.

There will be a variety of artists ranging from paint throwers, kinetic designers, projectionists, fashion designers, to traditional painters and much more. Featured performances include a Battle of the Bands at the Middle East, The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, the Mustn't Grumble, Alto Reform School, Pro Arte Orchestra, theatrical presentations from the SouthCity Theatre Company, Nora Theatre Company, Underground Railway Theater, and a fashion show. If that's not enough there will also be free Yoga classes, hip-hop classes, silk screening, mime lessons, improv comedy instruction and sushi rolling lessons. See work from the Collision Collective, the Floating Gallery, and the fashion of UV Protection.

Businesses will play an essential role in the success of this event, as they open their doors to host working artists through the Works in Progress program, workshops, 'behind the scenes' tours, cooking classes, an open house at The Dance Complex, hair cut and coloring demonstrations, a Central Square restaurant Dumpling Crawl, and ice cream making at Toscanini's. Events will take place inside businesses, in hidden side street locations, as well as on an outdoor stage, so be prepared to be surprised by the hidden jewel that is Central Square. There will also be an Art for Everyone space where anyone and everyone is welcomed to bring a couple of pieces to share.
